In a back and forth game Wednesday night that went down to the final seconds, the Oak Harbor girls got past the Getchell Chargers in the Oak Harbor gym 46-43.

Behind a game-high 17 points by Bryn Langrock and another 12 by Julie Jansen, the Wildcats held on to a late lead to secure the win.

Trailing by 3 points to start the 4th period, the Wildcats turned up the defense, holding the visitors to just 5 points after giving up 15 in the 3rd.

In addition to Langrock's 17 and Jansen's 12, JP scored 8, Deja Bunch 3, and RG, Jinai and Hayley each scored 2.

The girls still have a chance at a playoff spot.  The 5th place Wildcats (2-6) have two games remaining - at winless Pilchuck on Friday then at home Monday against 3rd place Everett (5-3).

If Oak Harbor wins both games and Getchell loses to Arlington, then OH will be in 4th place in the Wesco 3A north.

Ferndale comes down out of the NWC and will bump the 4th place team from either Wesco north or south, whichever team has the worse record.

Right now, the Wesco south 4th place team is Shorewood at 4-7.  Their final game is against Mountlake Terrace (0-10).  If Terrace should rise up and swat Shorewood, both 4th place teams would have 4 wins.  Shorewood plays more league games than Oak Harbor, so if they lose to Terrace would be 4-8 while two Oak Harbor wins put the 'Cats at 4-6, and the final playoff spot should go to Oak Harbor.

The JV girls played a great game the Wildcats (1-6) went tot-to-toe for 3 quarters against the 6-2 Chargers, but an offensive lapse in the 4th period (OH scored only two free throws) gave Getchell a 49-32 win.  Matti Miesle and Montana Koslowski each scored 8 to lead the team.  Jaden Jesus was right behind with 7, Hannah Taylor with 6 and Kyanna Prosch with 5.  Lydia Peplinski scored on one free throw.

In the dome, the 'Cats started slow (only 2 points in the 1st period), but warmed up in the 2nd to trail 25-11 at halftime.  Strong defense along with a red-hot Tia Miesle not only closed the gap, but gave Oak Harbor a 30-28 lead going into the final quarter.

In the end, the free throw line did them in.  After shooting 100% from the line through 3 quarters, the 'Cats sank only 3 FTs in 10 attempts and 0-8 Oak Harbor lost 41-39 to the 5-3 Chargers.

Trinity Olvera led the team with 13 points and Miesle got all 10 of her points in the 3rd period.  Alisha Wilson finished with 8, Aelizah Espirity 5 and Alyssa McCaulty and Kia Ceya 2 each.

Wrestling 2015-01-31 - Lady Wolfpack Tournament

A report from Coach Falcon on last weekend's girls tournament at Jackson High School.

"Here are the results for the Lady Wolfpack Tourny for last weekend.  It was a tough tournament this year. Some of the highlights include

Isabel Garcia wrestling three round and losing at the end to the state runner-up in the semis from Puyallup (Franich). Also versus the Arlington Girl where Garcia had a single leg and Arlington did a roll through and She continued the roll and pinned the Arlington girl.

C. Woodworth makes a great move in the first round and beats the Squalicum girl. Takes a close loss at the end to the Mt Baker Girl which she had pinned in the 3^rd round but lost the match to points. Wrestles the last two matches with heart and loses to Skyline by 4 points taking 7^th in the tourn.

Meredith (Bain) comes out and major decision versus the Yelm Girl 12-1 then Runs in to the # one seed  who pins her in the first round. She lost a close one in the consolation to the Lynden girl.

P. Woodworth continued to improve her wrestling skill but stumbled at the end of her first match losing a close one. She went into the JV Round Robin where she wrestled tough but could not pull a win.

Faith Haley and Alexia Mobley both went two and out in the Tourney.

Sub Regions are this weekend in Burlington HS and we will be wrestling Friday and Saturday. "
