Softball still undefeated - updated

The girls softball team traveled to Squalicum HS in Bellingham Friday recording a 10-0 shutout. Kayla Ratliff and Whitney Osborn pitched for the Wildcats, recording the no-hit shutout. The two pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts. Osborn ended the game by snagging a line drive that was hit hard right at her.

On offense, Nikki Mowbray blasted a home run over the left-center fence, Kaylee Meders went 2-4 with a RBI and Emily Meagher was 2-3.

The varsity game ended after only 6 innings due to the 10-run rule.

The JV team is also undefeated with a 10-1 win over Squalicum. Coach Showalter noted the excellent defense of Nichelle Trumbell at both 2nd base and shortstop.

On offense, Abby Rankin had 3 hits, one of them a triple, batted in 2 runs and stole 2 bases. Freshman Liz Hedderman, back from an injury, also had 3 hits along with 3 RBIs. Emily Hunt pitched 5 innings, striking out 8 batters while allowing only 3 hits. Rankin came in to relieve Hunt and finish the game.
