Girls Tennis 4-14 vs Cascade

Coach Brown had the following to say about the JV tennis match last Tuesday.
"This was a good match between two closely matched teams. Cascade ended up taking the victory, but there were some good results from the Oak Harbor players. Of particular note were Alexa Holmly at 3rd singles, and Cassie Gianino and Jennifer Bowers at 1st Doubles.
Alexa had a very good match. She was playing well and setting up well. She won the first set 6-2, and seemed thoroughly in control. She was leading 5-2 in the second when her opponent got it together and came back to win the set 7-5. Alexa toughened up and won in a tie break 12-10.
First doubles was a great mental match. Cascade won the first set 6-4, but Cassie and Jennifer had already come up with some plans to upset that team. They put them into action, and won the second set 6-2.
The tiebreak was tense, but the Wildcats won 11-9. Great Stuff!!
Audrey Andoy also won a long match at #4 singles. We were not able to get a win at either 2nd or 3rd doubles, so the official match was lost 3-4. Kim Kerley / Ashley Leslie, Asia Pruyne / Jacque Villanueva, and Mckenzie McCormack / Ashley Haynes all came away with victories in their matches."

While the JV girls were playing hard against Cascade in Everett, the varsity girls were not doing as well. Jen Jansen beat her opponent 6-1, 6-2, but that was the only OH domination. Erin Neilon lost in 3 sets, 1-6, 6-3, 4-6 as did Molly Deleon 7-6(2), 2-6, 0-6. Sophomore Cady O’Dell won at #4 singles, but took 3 sets to do it, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Cascade won all 3 doubles matches, but the #1 team of Lauren Rico and Valerie Loders took them to 3 sets. In extra matches, Jessica James and Jordan Faralan won 10-8 and Beverly Gianino won 8-4.
