At South Whidbey High School Saturday afternoon, the OHHS girls cross country team showed that depth is important.
The highest placing OH runner was Allison Duvenez, who finished in 6th place with a time of 19:34, followed closely by Addy Royal in 19:38. (the winning time was 18:58)
What did it for the Wildcats was the race run by Christina Wichers. She passed several runners late to capture 28th place, and gave Oak Harbor the one extra point they needed to get third place and the trip to Pasco. Jessica Denmon finished in 44th place, and Abby Leete, recently back from an injury was 48th.
For the boys, only Tyler King qualified for state on an individual basis, finishing in 6th place. His time was 16:41. As a team the boys finished in 9th place.
