Girls Golf District Tournament at Gallery Golf Course in Oak Harbor

The Oak Harbor Wildcats hosted this years' district golf tournament at the Navy's Gallery Golf Course.

Day 2 started with 39 golfers with the top 15 going to state. Of those 39 golfers, 6 were from Oak Harbor.

After the first day, Ashley Johnson was the top Wildcat, shooting a 93 for 6th place. Simone Hamilton shot a 97 and was tied for 8th.

Millie Goebel and Sasha Olson each shot 100 and were at 16th. Melany Cone was 24th with a 103 and Mara Cortez 38th with a 114.

On day 2, Ashley showed her consistency by shooting a 94 for a total of 187. That earned her 7th place and a trip to the state tournament next week in Pasco.

Melany Cone, after ending the first day in 24th place, shot a 93 on day 2 to boost herself up to 10th place.

Also going to state is Simone Hamilton who shot 100 on day 2 for a total of 197. She finished 11th.

Sasha Olson shot 105 on day 2 and finished 21st with a 205 total. Millie Goebel had 109 on the 2nd day for a total of 209 and 23rd place.

Mara Cortez improved by 13 strokes over day 1, shooting 101 on the 2nd day for a total of 215, moving her up to 31st place.

The 3 state participants are the team's 3 seniors, and the 3 juniors are well-poised to make their own run to state next year.
