In an effort to save transportation costs, the Mountlake Terrace tennis team brought both their varsity and JV teams to Oak Harbor last Friday afternoon.
First up were the varsity boys.
The singles matches were hard-fought affair, with 3 of the 4 matches going to 3 sets and the 4th going to tiebreaker in the first set.
In the end, a pair of OH netters won in singles. Harrison Miller won 7-6(2), 6-1 and Casiano Atienza won 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
1st doubles went to 3 sets, but unfortunately the Wildcats were on the losing end. Oak Harbor did pick up a win at 2nd doubles as Tom Dale and Jacob Nelson won 6-2, 6-2, but Terrace picked up the 4-3 win for the day.
JV play was reversed, with the boys winning 4-3.
At singles, #1 Jared Alano-Gray won 6-1, 6-1 and 4th singles T.J. Cortez won 2-6, 6-1, 10-4.
JJ Abides and Greg Johnson won 7-5, 1-6, 10-8 at 2nd doubles and the Shinzo Higashiyama/Nathan Magdalera won 6-3, 6-4.
