A tale of two halves is the story from Wednesday's freshman football game at OHHS.
In the first half, the Wildcats could seeming do no wrong, forcing Stanwood to punt twice and forced a fumble, while scoring on runs of 1, 12 and 85 yard to lead 20-0 at the half.
What also happened during that half was the Wildcats losing not one, not two, but seven players for the rest of the game due to injuries.
As a result, even though Oak Harbor scored on a 2-yard run in the 3rd quarter, Stanwood scored on a 28-yard halfback pass, a 66-yard run, a 5-yard run and a 53-yard run. More importantly, Stanwood made all four PAT attempts, while the Wildcats missed two.
As a result, Stanwood wound up winning the game 28-26.
The freshman squad is at home again vs Mt. Vernon on Wednesday the 16th at 5:30pm. Admission is free and the concession stand will be open.
