With few seniors on this year's squad, the Oak Harbor varsity softball team is struggling, but picked up and important league win this past week.
Monday the 6th, the girls hosted a strong Pilchuck team and fell 12-2, but came back the next day to earn their first win of the season, a 10-4 victory over host Getchell.
After a week off, the squad played 3 straight games against 3A South teams - Shorewood, Shorecrest and Mountlake Terrace, falling in all 3 games.
The JV squad has been finding a fair amount of success, taking advantage of opponent errors to score extra runs.
At home against Pilchuck, the JV squad won 14-11, then beat Getchell 7-4 but lost to Shorewood on the 14th 10-3.
Last Friday the gals hosted Terrace and rapped out 20 runs while holding the Hawks to just 6.
Coming up for softball are games at home against Ferndale (Monday) and Edmonds-Woodway (Wednesday), and travel to Glacier Peal on Tuesday the 21st.
