The OHHS boys tennis teams got off to a good start Thursday with a pair of wins against Mt. Vernon.
In varsity action, the Wildcats swept singles play, with Jackson Wezeman shutting out his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at 1st singles. Ray Paraiso at 2nd singles win 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, Rodrigo Columbo won at 3rd singles 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 and Calib Byers won 6-0, 6-1 at 4th singles.
In doubles, however, it was all Bulldogs as OH lost all 3 matches, but the match win went to Oak Harbor 4-3.
At Mt. Vernon, the JV team also notched a win, 5-2, with all four singles players getting wins: Nathanel Thompson, Trent Cone, Clifford Hartley and Luke Martin. Also winning was the #2 doubles team of Jacob Schermerhorn and Jordan George.
The next match is next Monday, the 14th, with varsity at home and JV on the road at Glacier Peak.
