The season ended at the hands of a team very much like themselves.
Run-over
by a high-powered rushing offense, the Oak Harbor High School football
squad put up a tough fight Friday night, but ultimately fell 49-35 to
visiting Juanita in a loser-out district playoff game.
The
Wildcats compiled 477 yards of offense, including 230 on 34 carries from
Princeton Lollar, but the Rebels responded with 500 yards of their own.
That included 248 yards and four touchdowns from Salvon Ahmed.
Oak
Harbor had no trouble rolling up yardage -- Savion Passmore also rushed
for 116 yards while Dyllan Harris scampered for 98 -- but the 'Cats
couldn't stop Juanita. Ever.
The Rebels opened the scoring on a
30-yard touchdown strike from Tavin Montgomery, and the teams exchanged
scores for much of the game.
Each time Juanita scored, Oak Harbor
responded until the Rebels put together back-to-back scores late in the
third quarter to take their biggest lead of the game at 42-28.
Lollar
powered in for his third score of the night, a 20-yard run right before
the buzzer, to trim the margin back to seven, but then the Wildcats
went cold in the fourth.
Ahmed capped things with a 33-yard TD run.
All
four of his scores were big plays, as his touchdown runs covered 64, 33
and 30 yards. He also snagged a 67-yard scoring strike.
Lollar
responded with scoring runs of one, seven and 20 yards, while Passmore's
touchdown runs covered three and 49 yards, respectively.
Oak Harbor finished 6-3, while Juanita improved to 8-2.
