FB 2015-10-09 Varsity vs Getchell

by David Svien

It was a complete role reversal.

A week after blowing a big lead and falling under a non-stop hail of points at Arlington, the Oak Harbor High School football rebounded with a vengeance Friday night.

This time it was the Wildcats going on the scoring tear, as they threw down 34 straight points to close the game, eventually routing visiting Marysville Getchell 46-9.

The win lifted Oak Harbor to 3-2 overall, 2-1 in Wesco North action.

The 'Cats accomplished most of their destruction on the ground, with three backs racking up 100+ yards as Oak Harbor ran wild against a weak Charger defense.

Princeton Lollar was the main man, rumbling for a season-high 260 yards, while Mac Carr and Savion Passmore each topped the century mark in support.

Oak Harbor's defense made its own stand, holding Marysville to just 104 yards of total offense.

The game was close, however, at least in the early going, as the Wildcats clung to a 12-9 lead midway through the second quarter.

Touchdowns from Carr (a three-yard run) and Passmore (an 82-yard jaunt to the end zone) staked Oak Harbor to the lead, but Maryville used a 35-yard field goal from Declan Sweatt and a 28-yard scoring run by Jeremy Pinca to hang tough.

Any hopes of the game playing out down to the wire quickly faded, though, as the 'Cats stepped up and rammed home five straight touchdowns to end the game.

Passmore (21-yard run) and Carr (5-yard run) each added their second score of the evening, before Lollar caught them with two touchdowns of his own.

The first came on a 50-yard explosion, the second on a 13-yard sprint to pay dirt.

Mack Nuanez rounded out the run-happy attack with a two-yard scoring run to provide the night's final points.

Oak Harbor returns to action next Friday, Oct. 16, when it hosts Stanwood for Homecoming. Kickoff is 7 PM.
