Oak Harbor went from no opponent to half an opponent.
After
Stanwood suddenly cancelled on the Wildcats, thanks to a wild mix of bad
grades, injuries and athletic code violations, Anacortes stepped in to
make sure OHHS would be able to still hold Senior Night Tuesday.
The
Seahawks only filled seven of the 14 weight classes, and with five wins
in the seven contested bouts, Oak Harbor sailed to a 62-12 win.
The victory lifted the 'Cats to 6-4 on the season, with a final Wesco match at Marysville-Getchell Thursday.
Of those who did wrestle, Sam Zook was the star on the night, winning 4-2 in overtime against Kiron Devine at 285 pounds.
Zook, who is undefeated this season, is ranked fourth in the state
among 3A wrestlers, while Devine is ninth in class 2A.

Oak Harbor also received the Gary
Knutzen Spirit of Wrestling Award for the second time in the last four years.
The
award, given by the Skagit-Island Wrestling Officials Association,
honors the Wildcats and coach Larry Falcon for an "outstanding display
of sportsmanship throughout
the season."
Knutzen was a longtime wresting official and head coach at Skagit Valley College.
This weekend marks the beginning of wrestling's post-season, with the boys sub-regional tournament on Friday and Saturday at Stanwood High School and the girls at Bellingham High School.
