Baseball - Varsity vs Ballard - 3/13

The varsity baseball team faced the Ballard Beavers of Seattle for their first game of the year, and head coach Tyson Van Dam was pleased with what he saw.

The 'Cats got an early 3-0 lead on some smart baserunning, but Ballard was able to load the bases and scored 3 on a triple into left field. Even though OH closed the score late, Ballard was able to score and lead 11-9 going into the bottom of the 7th. Oak Harbor was able to get a couple runners on base, but could not score them.

Coach Van Dam was not disappointed in the loss, stating that as it was a non-league game, he kept starting pitcher Jay Stout and his relief in longer than he would have in a league game, and takes 3-4 Ballard runs on himself.

The next day the team was in Coupeville for a Jamboree, playing a series of 2-3 inning mini-games, and again did well, hitting at least two home runs.

Photos from Friday's game are posted HERE.
