Track from Marysville

It was a nice day for a track meet - unless you were a distance runner. It was a sunny, warm day, which is great for sprinters and the field event athletes, but hard on the distance runners - if they had their choice, it would be an overcast day around 50-55 degrees with no wind. They got the no wind part, but that's it. The weather did make for the great sunbathing beauties picture of Neumiller and Lamb on the cover of the photo album at Shutterfly.

OH had a fairly small contingent of runners, jumpers, and throwers, so didn't score a lot of team points, but they all did well, with a lot of PRs. One suprising outcome was the girls 4x400 meter relay. Comprised of Allison Duvenez, Kathryn Fisken, Lauryn Wilson and Abby Leete, they totally smoked the opposition in their heat. Allison led off and built a large lead, then Kathryn extended that lead to almost 100 yards. Lauryn maintained the lead and Abby finished almost 75 yards in front of the 2nd place team. What's neat about this relay team is they have never run this race as a team before, and most have never run this distance. Allison is primarily a short sprinter - 100 & 200 meters, Kathryn runs the 800 and 1600 with the 1600 her main event, and Abby is a star in the 3200. Lauryn has run the 4x400 only twice this season (as had Abby), normally running the 100 & 300 hurdles. It was great to see this thrown-together group of girls do so well.
