This past weekend the varsity squad spent a long weekend at the University of Portland for team camp. In addition to individual skills, the team also played 5 games together as a team, going 4-1 for the weekend. Attending camp were incoming seniors Josh Fikse, Brooks Waller, Phil Nadeau and Jimmy Edens, sophomores Jay Stout, Aaron Boesch, Denzel Massey and the twins, Trace and Connor Paul. Freshman Mike Washington Jr. also attended.
During camp, Edens emerged as a team leader, and has his work cut out for him. The team is made up of some good players, but with little varsity experience which was displayed as some very spotty and streaky play at times.
Coach Washington was impressed by the play of Jay Stout, Denzel Massey and Mike Washington Jr. in the guard postion while Josh Fikse and Aaron Boesch continue to improve at the post position.
The JV team will play a final summer league game at Mt. Vernon HS on Wednesday, then the team will be at a tournament in Gig Harbor on July 6th, followed by another team camp at St. Martin's University from July 11-13. The final contest for the summer will be July 19th with a tournament at the Evergreen State College in Olympia.
Sorry, no photos from camp.
