Due to a series of issues, OH brought only 15 wrestlers to the meet, 4 of them JV.
In the JV matches, only Josh Crebbin and Kelly Turner came out winners. Crebbin got a pin in 1:44 and Turner needed 1:56 for his pin. Ver Starr got pinned but separated a rib during the match, directly leading to the loss. He should be OK, but he was on the mat for a bit before he could get up.
Corey Trimbur started things off in varsity, taking on JoMae Alewine, one of the top female wrestlers in the state. Corey had the lead 2-0 starting the 2nd period with the wrestlers in the neutral position. Alewine was able to get Corey in a headlock and took him to the mat and nearly got a pin before Trimbur was able to reverse and get back on top. Now down 5-4 to start the 3rd, Corey was unable to get JoMae turned onto her back, so opted for the takedown and escape strategy in order to get points. He let her up, giving her a 6-4 lead, and then took her down to tie the score. He let her up again with less than a minute to go, and with just 10 seconds left in the match Corey was able to get the takedown and win 8-7.
That was to be the only OH win for a while. 3 pins and two forfeits later the team score stood at LS 15, OH 3.
At 145 lbs it was Colton Elliot vs Andrew King. In current WESCO rankings, Elliot was ranked #1 and King #2. The match lived up to expectations.
Brandon Stratton moved up to 152 lbs and after a flurry of 1st round points was able to pin Olliges halfway through the 2nd period.
Steven Souza got the final OH victory of the night, pinning McEntire with 28 seconds left to go in the match.
In the end, the team score was Lake Stevens 55, OH 15.
