GBB 2010-12-02 @ Arlington

While the boys were winning 2 of 3 games at OHHS Thursday night, the girls were at Arlington had some problems getting the offenses going.

The freshman team had only 4 players score during their game. Sam Hawkins hit for 14 points to lead the team and Melanie Callaway was just behind with 12. Jamie Estrella added 6 and Cassidy Gurich scored 4 points. Even at that it was a close game. The Wildcats were down 10-6 at the end of the first period by came back and scored 16 points in the 2nd to take a 22-14 lead. Arlington outscored OH 12-6 in the 3rd, but Oak Harbor still held a 28-26 lead going into the 4th period, but the Wildcats were able to score only 8 points while free throws for Arlington proved the difference as the Eagles won 39-34.

In JV action, the only scoring in the 1st quarter was a single free throw made by Rayan Russell. Marissa Lewis and Erika Flores each scored in the 2nd, but by then Arlington built a 24-6 lead. The Wildcat defense worked in the 3rd, holding the Eagles to 4 points, but the offense only hit for 7 points and Arlington finished out the game 35-20.

Lia Pantoleon and Morgan Young each scored 5 points, Lewis 3, Flores, Kaileen Burleson, and Kelsey Rankin 2 each and Russel 1.

At the of the first period, the varsity team was down 19-9 and at halftime it was 28-20, a lead that could be overcome. It wasn't to be as the OH offense drew a blank in the 3rd period and scored only 2 points in the 4th and Arlington won 51-22.

Ciera Wiser scored 6, Janelle Yoshimoto 5, Jalani Bobo and Annie Leete 3 each, Kelsey Rankin and DJ 2 each and Emilie Renninger 1 point.

Next for the girls is a trip to Squalicum on Monday, then two homes games - Lynden on Wednesday and they open their league schedule on Friday vs Lynnwood.
