It was a tough night at Mountlake Terrace for the girls basketball teams.
Over in the Aux gym, the Freshman team, minus two key players, was having problems on offense, scoring only 4 points in the 1st period and 11 by halftime while allowing 34 by the Hawks. In the 27-57 loss, Sam Hawkins was a bright spot with 14 points. Gordy and Lyn scored 4 each, Hunt and Gurich 2 each and Estrella 1 point.
JV was down by 2 at the end of the first but led 21-18 at half and 34-26 at the end of the 3rd. They held off a late charge by MLT to win 41-37. Lia Pantoleon scored 12 for the team, Morgan Young and Marisa Lewis had 8 each and Kelsey Rankin 5. Erika Flores and Rayan Russell scored 4 each.
At the end of the 1st quarter, the varsity team was up 17-15, but poor shooting in the 2nd let the Hawks take a 10-point 35-25 lead into the locker room at halftime. The teams played almost even in the 3rd, but another offensive letdown in the 4th gave Terrace the 61-44 win. Yoshi scored 13 for the 'Cats and Ciera Wiser had a season-high 12 points. Annie Leete added 8, Addy Royala 5 and DJ 2.
