Middle School Boys Basketball 2010-12-15 NWMS vs Mt. Baker

On Wednesday afternoon the NWMS boys basketball team played at home against Mt. Baker Middle School of Mt. Vernon.

The 8th grade game was a blowout. North Whidbey scored 25 points in the opening period while holding the Grizzlies scoreless. At one point, Zack Jones scored 6 points in a 20-second span by stealing the inbound pass. When the dust settled and after the score was reset for the 4th period due to the lopsided score, it was NW 53, MTB 37. Jones played the first period and just a couple of minutes in the 2nd and scored 15 pints. Nehring scored 8 along with Adams. Eccleston and Vester hit for 6 points, Parmenter for 4, and Bobo, Dunch, Reed and Smith 2 each.

It was much closer in the 7th grade game. At the end of the 1st, NW held a 7-6 lead and led only 14-11 at halftime. Both teams scored 8 in the 3rd period, but NW outscored Mt. Baker 16-11 in the 4th to win 38-30. Kolste led the scoring with 16 and Smith hit for 13. McKinney scored 7 and Dixon 2 to round out the NW points.
