Wrestling 2011-01-08 at Everett

The OHHS varsity wrestling team traveled to Everett for a tournament and finished in 9th place out of 20 teams and put two champions on the podium. Oak Harbor scored 89 points in the tournament while host Everett finished in 3rd with 125 points. Oak Harbor will host Everett in a dual meet for possession of 1st place in WESCO 3A this coming Thursday, Jan 13th.

Corey Trimbur, at 103 pounds, pinned Luis Reyna of Mt Vernon in 3:07 to earn 1st place. On his way to the podium he defeated Cunningham of Lake Stevens 18-2 and Morales of Mt. Vernon 19-3.

Freshman Jahleel Vester won one and lost one in a short bracket to tie for 5th place at 112 lbs.

Cody Fakkema at 125 lbs also tied for 5th place.

At 145 lbs, Brandon Stratton, down to 145 lbs, used 3 pins to work his way to the top of his bracket. He pinned Shea of Lake Stevens in 3:40, Ross of South Whidbey in 1:56 and Thompson of South Whidbey in 1:21.

Josh Crebbin finished in a tie for 3rd at 152 lbs. He lost his opening match then worked his way through the consolation bracket with some impressive wrestling. He beat Cichoz of Auburn Mountainview 14-6, Morgen of South Whidbey by pin in just 44 seconds, and Munizza from Emerald Ridge 13-5.
