AAU BBB 2012-03-10

In the second day of the SWISH league end-of-season tournament, the remaining 4 OH teams were in action.

The 5th and 7th grade teams, along with the 6th grade Gold and 8th grade Purple team played at various sites around Skagit County. The Oak Harbor Sports Report was able to get to 5 games during the day.

The 5th grade team played all their games at Sedro-Woolley HS. The first game was a very close 22-20 loss to Burlington, but the team regrouped to beat Stanwood 34-25 to capture 4th place.

Video highlights from the Stanwood game are posted HERE.

At Skagit Valley College, the 3rd seeded 6th grade Gold team started with a big 30-6 win over the Sedro-Woolley Titans, then beat 2nd seed LaConner 38-32, putting them into the championship game vs Mt. Baker. That game started out extremely slow, with OH leading just 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. Things heated up in the second, with OH leading 13-6 at halftime. The 'Cats got a second wind after halftime and extended their lead to 27-17 on their way to a 31-20 victory. The wins were even more impressive in that the team played all 3 games with only 6 players available. There were some tired boys at the end of the day.
