BBB 2013-01-12 vs Meadowdale

Another 3 games in the OH gym Friday night resulted in only a single victory for the Wildcats as they hosted the Meadowdale Mavericks.

The Freshman team played a decent first half, going to the locker room tied at 20, but the Maverick coach must have made a heck of a halftime speech as Meadowdale came out and scored 19 points just in the 3rd quarter and another 15 in the 4th and they won 54-39.  Diangelo McKinney led the team with 14 points. Shane Huttula added12, half of that total from free throws.  Sean Erskine finished with 6, Alex Harrison, Savion Passmore and Tanner Walker 2 each and Tyler Snavely 1.

The JV squad fell behind early, 10-3 and spent much of the game playing catchup ball.  Down 23-13 at the end of the first, the boys closed the gap to just 27-21 halfway through the second, but a late flurry of Meadowdale points put Oak Harbor in a hole they couldn't climb out of, down 36-23 at halftime. The final score was 76-49 in favor of the Mavericks.  Cortez Ridley scored 19 to lead the team and Isaiah Rennes added 10 more.  JJ Johnson scored 9, all from outside the arc, Jake Sturdevant finished with 5, Ben Fikse 4 and Connor Parmenter 2.

The first half of the varsity game was a yawner, with neither team scoring much.  OH trailed 8-7 at the first horn and led 19-17 at halftime.  Things picked up in the second half with the Wildcats exceeding their entire first half output in just the 3rd period while continuing the stiff defense that limited Meadowdale scoring.  In the end, the Wildcats picked up another win 58-42.  Dayne Herron was the man inside, scoring 17 points and the other inside guy, Chris Hailer, scored 10.  Zach Jones finished with 9, Jojo Webster 8, Drew Washington, Gabe Groenig and Donavan Sellgren 4 each and Dyllan Harris 2.
