Thursday evening the Wildcat girls soccer team hosted the Glacier Peak Grizzlies at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
Oak Harbor came into the varsity match with an overall 3-7-1 record, the same as Glacier Peak.
Something had to give.
At the end of the match, Glacier Peak's record was not 3-8-1 while Oak Harbor was 4-7-1, thanks to a goal in the 18th minute by freshman forward Jennifer Turnek, who scooted the ball past the Grizzly keeper, causing her to trip and fall, leaving Turnek with a clear shot at the goal from about 10 yards out.
That score was all that was needed, as Wildcat Keeper Kenzie Perry stopped an onslaught of Glacier Peak shots in the second half, preserving the Oak Harbor win.
Previously, the JV squad played to a 1-1 tie. The JV girls are now 4-6-1 on the season with 4 games left.
