It was a night of highs and lows for the Wildcat volleyball team last Tuesday when they hosted the Shorewood Thunderbirds
On the high side were the 3-0 wins by both the JV and Freshman teams. The JV girls won 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 and the C team winning 25-14, 25-23, 25-21.
Also on the high side was the first set of the varsity match, which the Wildcats won 25-15. In set 2 the girls grabbed an early 6-3 lead, but Shorewood went on a 7-0 run to take a 10-6 lead. OH closed later, at 13-15, but Shorewood went 10-4 at the end to win 25-17.
In set 3, the 'Cats led 4-0 and 9-2 before the T-birds tied the set at 11 and again at 20, but a nice kill by Claire Anderson gave OH a 25-22 set win and a 2-1 match lead.
Unfortunately, the Wildcats stumbled in the final two sets. After leading 11-5, Shorewood was able to come back to tie the set at 12, then went 7-1 at the end to win 25-19 and force a 5th set.
In the final set, Oak Harbor just couldn't get things going and Shorewood took the set 15-5 and won the match 3-2.
Two days later the Wildcats got revenge by beating Shorecrest 3-1 in varsity action. The JV and C teams both won 2-1 the same day.
