The week of October 8th was like night and day for the varsity and JV boys tennis squads.
On Monday the two teams faced off against Shorecrest, one of the top teams in WESCO, with the varsity team at home and JV on the road.
Both teams were swept by their opponents, losing 7-0 in straight sets.
Wednesday the teams switched places, with the JV team at home and varsity at Marysville Pilchuck and the scores were nearly reversed as well.
At Pilchuck, all four singles players won in straight sets. Southard won 6-1, 6-0, Kusnick 6-3, 6-0, Saar 6-1, 6-0 and Miller 6-1, 6-1. In doubles, the #1 team of Dale and Nelson won 7-5, 6-1, #2 Kelley and Mendoza fell 6-0, 6-2, and #3 Atienza and Unpingco won a flip-flopping 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 match. The final was 6-1 in favor of OHHS
In exhibition action, Ziwei Peng and Jose Dimaculangan won 6-0, 7-5.
At OHHS the team score was also 6-1, with the only MP win a 3-set match at 1st singles.
OH singles winners were Martin 6-2, 6-3, Byers 6-0, 6-1 and Hunt 6-0, 6-0.
All 3 doubles team won, Smith/Rupp 6-1, 6-1, Curtis/Van Dam 6-2, 7-5, and Hallahan/Paraiso 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.
This ends the JV season, while varsity players continue to the league meet.
