At the final match of the regular season, the OHHS volleyball teams nearly pulled off a 3-match sweep of the visiting Marysville Pilchuck Tomahawks.
Over in the dome, the freshman team lost the first game 14-25, roared back to take game 2 25-22, but stumbled in the 3rd game 19-25. The Freshman Wildcats finish the season with a 3-11 overall record, 2-6 in league, and finished in 4th place in WESCO 3A south.
In the main gym, the JV team cruised to a 3-0 match victory, winning the games 25-16-, 25-21, 25-17. They finish the season in first place with a 7-1 league record, falling only to Pilchuck in their first meeting, at MPHS. The JV team's overall record for the season is 11-3.
With a playoff spot guaranteed, the Wildcat varsity team was playing for seeding. The team came out big, with the hitting pair of Kayleigh Harper and Roshel Muzzall taking the Taylor Nienhuis sets and slamming them to the floor. The Hannahs - Salmons and Christensen - got in their licks as well, as did Kelsey Rankin. At the service line, Ally McGuire did a great job, as did libero Stephanie Milliron in the back row.
The 'Cats won the first two games 26-16, 25-14, then let MP sneak in and take game 3, 19-25, then roared back and delivered a 25-8 pounding on the helpless Tommies in game 4 to win the match 3-1.
Next for the 'Cats is a trip to either Glacier Peak HS or Pilchuck for the WESCO 3A tournament starting Oct 30th.
