The below communication about the Wildcat performance at the Cheerleading State Competition is from head coach Pam Headridge.
The Wildcat cheerleaders took second place at WIAA State in the combined category of medium/large/super large coed division finishing behind Heritage High School from Vancouver, WA.
The Cats competed first up in their division performing a high-energy routine, sticking all their stunts and tumbling passes. The judges comments included, “ strong partner stunts”, “great incorporation of single basing stunts in your pyramids”, “stunts flow with routine nicely”, excellent crowdleading”, “great voices”, “solid tuck tumbling” , “ very fun, strong, routine”.
This is a very young team with 14 cheerleaders out of 24 new to competition arena this year including all of our guys. They performed a very difficult routine that impressed both the fans and judges scoring 229 out of 300.
Two other highlights of the day was Lauren Aguirre, a junior at Oak Harbor High School sang the National Anthem and also Oak Harbor exhibited a new state division called Crowdleading.
This year’s team included Meghan Rikard, TracyAnne Vessels, Cassie Gianino, Jessie Gulizia, Lauren Aguirre, Beckie White, Lindsey Vessels, Kasey Roberts, Willysha Shaw, Bri Peterson, Dejon Pruitt, Joe Pogacsas, Briana Sokoloski, Shani King, Courtney Tuttle, Josh Higbee, Ashley Bass, Kaylee Meders, Stephen Lewis, Rebekah Nickerson, Jessica Larson, Jacob Moody, Cailey Bolander, and Emily Hoyt. Also added to the crowdleading team was Jessica Foster, Jaime Mason and Holly Hernandez.
