Mat Classic results from Friday

OHHS has 3 wrestlers in Tacoma at the 2009 Mat Classic.

Tina Alter, in the 160lb weight class won both matches Friday to advance to the semifinals Saturday. In her first match she pinned Taelor Shepard of Rogers Puyallup in 3:14, then won a close 6-4 match over Drrue Partridge from Graham Kapowsin. Her first match Saturday is against #1 seed Alyssa Calhoon from West Valley of Yakima.

Junior Colton Elliot lost his first match, 9-0 to Trevor Mills from Todd Beamer HS, moving him to the consolation bracket. There, he beat Central Valley's Trevor Delmedico 11-5, then beat Nico Moreno from Moses Lake 14-10 to set up Saturday's match against Nolan Richards from Skyline.

Connar Zimmerman also lost his first match, to #1 seed Kyle Komata from Woodinville, but beat Isaac Gates from Wenatchee in the consolation. Connar then lost a close, heartbreaking 9-8 decision to Davis' Zach Nalley, eliminating him from the tournament.
