Varsity football next weekend

The Oak Harbor Wildcat football team will host WESCO South's Kamiak Knights, from Mukilteo, next weekend at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

The Knights will come into the game with a 2-4 league records and a 2-7 overall record. The only wins came against winless Shorewood, a team that scored only 63 points in 9 games, and against Mountlake Terrace, a team with only one league win and 3 overall wins. The Knights scored 116 points all season and allowed 194.

Oak Harbor and Kamiak had 3 common opponents this year. The Knights' first game was a 24-7 loss to Snohomish, which was followed the next weekend with a 27-15 loss to Cascade. Later in the season Kamiak got pounded by Marysville 43-14.

Kamiak was shut out twice this season, by Mariner and Edmonds-Woodway, and in 2 other game scored only 1 touchdown. Only twice this year has Kamiak scored more than 2 TDs, and both occasions were the two Kamiak wins.

It looks like our defense should be able to handle the Knight offense. The question is if the offense can get the ball moving and score some points.

how about letting #32 run the ball about 15-20 times so we can score and win a game!

To add a little to the other comment. The big change in offense left allot of us wondering. It seemed the ground game had been established and the air game needed a bit of fine tuning. The ground game seemed to vanish with the new offensive set and the three rushers with yardage gains ranking in the top seven of the WESCO leagues fizzled out. Donovan Hunt(446yds), Stephen Lewis (450yds) and Brad Farnum (305 yds)all had pretty good numbers from the first few games. That group put up good numbers (current rushing yardage courtesy of goskagit.com). Brad's rushing career seemed to end right after the Mt. Vernon game, where the three players ran for over 400 yards rushing. One person doesn't win a game, but together these three made the ground game. If the Wing-T had been used or integrated into the offensive strategy, I believe the season would have looked allot different. There's allot of people hoping to see a good rushing team brought back to life again. I wish the Wildcats luck with their final game of the season and thanks to all the players who made us proud, win or lose.
