Track 2010-05-14 - WESCO North finals

At the end of the 2010 WESCO North track championships, the Oak Harbor girls finished in 2nd place and the boys came in 9th overall.

Starting with the boys, Donovan Hunt was the standout athlete, finishing 3rd in the long jump, 5th in the triple jump, and 8th in the 100. Donovan would have been part of the 4x100 relay team but had to bow out and Josh Higbee stepped in.

In other track events, Jason Curles came in 4th in the 2oom finals and Matt Bolte 2nd in the 800m finals.

In addition to the 4x100 relay, the 4x400 relay also placed, coming in 8th place.

Cody Hernkind and Sam Schultz both cleared 5-6 in the high jump to tied for 8th place and Josh Higbee was 9th in the long jump.

The girls team produced 5 champions. Naomi Walker won the 100 and 200 meter dash, Shantae Young won the long and triple jump, and the 4x100 relay came in first place.

Young also placed 3rd in the 100 and Janessa Ramos placed 4th in the 100 and 6th in the 200. Walker was 5th in the long jump.

Addy Royal came in 2nd in the 800 and 5th in the 1600.

Nicki Mowbray earned team points by finishing 4th in the high jump (4-11), 2nd in the long jump and 3rd in the triple jump.

Next up is the 4A District 1 championships at Snohomish HS on Wednesday, May 19th and finishing Friday, May 21st.

FYI... Donovan did not participate in the 4x100 relay race...Josh Higbee stepped up and took Donovan's place when it appeared Donovan wasn't fit to run... Thanks to Josh for stepping up!!
