Middle School Girls Basketball 2011-02-22 NWMS @ OHMS

The annual OHMS vs NWMS girls basketball game took place Tuesday afternoon at OHMS with OH winning both games.

In the 7th grade game, NW played tough defense, and halfway through the 1st quarter the game was tied 2-2 and the period ended 8-2 in favor of the Panthers. In the 2nd, though, the Panthers took total control of the game, scoring 20 points to boost their lead to 28-6 at halftime and the Panthers cruised to a 45-19 win.

While Jinai Ekberg scored the majority of the Panther points with 19, seven other players got on the board. Taylor Heidt finished with 8, Suzanne Kaltenbach 6, Ria Bains 4, Dejanelle Bunch 3, Krimson Rector 2 and Janae Payne and Rickell Piloneo 1 each. For the Cougars it was Resego Mooki with half the teams' points with 11. Hannah Knoll scored 4 and Kiesha Watts and Terra Baird had 2 each.

The 8th grade game was all Panthers - literally. Natalie McVey sank 2 free throws in the 4th period for the only NWMS points as the 8th grade Panthers swept the afternoon with a 41-2 win.

Nalani Gabbert scored 12 and Brook Peplinski 10 to lead the team. Faith Callies had 8, Hayley Lundstrom 6, McKinley Kellogg 3 and Lauryn Plush 2.
