Girls Soccer 2015-10-28 vs Everett

by David Svien

They never stopped fighting.

Even as they wrapped up a tough season, the Oak Harbor High School girls' soccer squad refused to just fall down and give in.

The scrappy Wildcats got their best league performance in 12 Western Conference games in their final time on the pitch, holding on for a hard-fought 2-2 tie with Everett.

The tie left Oak Harbor's final record at 3-11-1 overall, 0-11-1 in league action.

Caylie Etherington, one of the younger 'Cat players who could return next season to help continue to rebuild the program, banged home both goals against the Seagulls.

Oak Harbor loses five seniors to graduation -- Matti Miesle, Alyssa Cross, Suzanne Kaltenbach, Renee Ross and Carly Hall -- but has a solid core of younger players such as Gillian Crossley, Jenna Cooley, Lydia Peplinski and Etherington.

The 'Cat JV, which should send several players up to the varsity next year, finished 2-7-3.
