Girls AAU basketball 12-12-2009

The end of season tournament for the fall S.W.I.S.H. league was last Saturday, with the Oak Harbor 5th/6th grade team and 7th/8th grade team both playing games in La Conner.

The 7/8 team started first at 10:05am in the high school gym, where they beat the Orcas Lady Kings to advance to the semifinal round. In that game, played in the La Conner HS gym was against the La Conner team. Neither team played well, but La Conner played well enough to win, sending the Oak Harbor team into a 3rd place tie.

The 5/6 team came into the tournament seeded 2nd so had a first round bye. In semifinal action the girls faced the Orcas Vipers, a team they played and beat in the regular season. Orcas learned from the game, as the held Oak Harbor scoreless until the final seconds of the game when an OH player sank a rebound with about 5 seconds to play. The final score was 14-2 in favor of Orcas. The OH team went on to play for 3rd place, but the results of that game weren't available.
