Track - League meet 2011-05-11 and 13 at OHHS

This year the WESCO 3A League Championship track meet was at Oak Harbor High School, spread over two days, Wednesday and Friday, May 11th and 13th. The first day, filled with a steady hard rain but little wind, was mostly preliminary heats of running events with a few running and field event finals, did not see Oak Harbor athletes earning a lot of points. At the end of the 1st day, the boys were in last place of 8 teams, earning only 2 points. The girls were 5th of 5 teams with points at 22. Everett was on top of the boys side with 56 points and Glacier Peak for the girls with 57 points.

While there weren't many points, Oak Harbor was positioned to earn more on the second day with a number of runners moving on to the finals in their respective events. Oak Harbor had Josiah Miller and Aaron Boesch both in the 100m and 200m finals, with Miller grabbing the fastest time of the day in the 100m dash. Chris Opdyke qualified for the finals of the 400m dash, Josh Schrum and Connor Meyer in the 800 and Matt Reith in the 1600.

For the girls, Janessa Ramos and Christina Alexander moved on to the finals of the 100m dash and 3 Wildcats, Sarah Young, Christina Alexander and Jalani Bobo all finished in the top 8 of the 200m dash. There were also 3 Oak Harbor runners in the 400 - Christina Wicker, Maura McKole and Jember Jansen. Addy Royal and Hannah Bressler qualified for the 800m run and Allison Duvenez and Raeanna Wynne both qualified for the finals in both the 100m and 300m hurdles.

Field event finals from Wednesday were in the boys shot put, boys high jump, boys long jump, girls discus, girls javelin and girls long jump. Top 8 finishers were Dominique Jackson in the discus (7th), Janelle Yoshimoto in javelin (2nd) and Janessa Ramos in the long jump (5th).

Running finals were held in the boys 1600 (Matt Reith was 7th) and girls 3200 (Christina Wicker 6th, Adrianna Royal 7th and Alex Laiblin 8th).
