The softball team saw their first action of the season in a game against Burlington-Edison on the Hillcrest fields. This was a varsity-only match as BE did not bring their JV team.
The first four innings were all about the pitchers. Senior Kayla Ratliff started for the Wildcats and pitched at least 4 scoreless innings. Burlington put a very good freshman on the rubber and she kept Oak Harbor scoreless.
Later in the game, Burlington was able to put a couple of runs on the board, but Oak Harbor put up three runs to lead 3-2. In the top of the final inning, catcher Nikki Mowbray had not just one, but two put-outs at the plate to preserve the Wildcat win while sister Kim went 3-3 with a double and RBI.
