The Wildcat softball teams both saw a lot of success on the field on Wednesday afternoon.
On the JV diamond, the game was called at the beginning of the bottom of the 5th inning due to the mercy rule. Freshman Emily Hunt pitched the entire game with 4 strikeouts, 4 walks and ZERO hits. That’s right – in their first game of the season, the JV girls had a no-hitter!
On offense, Freshman Brittany Johnson had 4 hits, scored four times and had 4 RBIs. Another Freshman, Marissa Fakkema had 2 hits, scored twice, batted in 3 runs and stole two bases. Junior Kasey Roberts scored 3 times on two hits, batted in a run and stole a base. As a team, the girls' batting average for this game was .600. Way to go!
The final score was Oak Harbor JV 22, Sehome 2.
On the varsity side, starting pitcher Kayla Ratliff had 7 strikeouts and reliever Whitney Osborn added another as the Wildcats improved their record to 2-0 on the season.
Offensively, Kaylee Meders was 2-4 with an RBI, Nikki and Kim Mowbray were both 2-4, with Nikki hitting a double and a triple and Kim stealing 3 bases. Emily Meagher was only 1-4, but recorded a sacrifice fly, a double, 1 stolen base and 3 RBIs. Relief pitcher Whitney Osborn went 2-4 and had 2 stolen bases and an RBi.
OHHS won the game 10-4.
