Volleyball 10-26 at Cascade

The Wildcat volleyball team played at Cascade High School in Everett Monday night, the second meeting between the two teams. Oak Harbor won the first match, 3 games to 2 at North Whidbey Middle School.

Varsity game one was close for the first half, until Cascade was able build a 4-point lead, 18-14. The Wildcats didn't give up and tied the game at 22 after a service ace by setter Melany Cone. Cascade then scored a point, but Amanda Blau put it down to tie it again at 23. Janessa Ramos gave the 'Cats game point, 24-23, but a pair of Bruin kills and a hitting error by the Wildcats gave game one to Cascade, 26-24.

With the exception of the first few points, the Wildcats led most of game 2, at one point leading 15-9 points by Ramos, Blau and Kristine Bouchard. Cascade closed to within 1, 16-15, but kills by Devin Tanner and Roshel Muzzall pushed the OH lead back to 5. The Bruins hung in, tying the game at 24, but a hitting error by Cascade gave game point to Oak Harbor, then Ramos smacked down game point, 26-24, tying the match at one game each.

Game 3 started with the Wildcats keeping it close, until Cascade scored 6 straight to take a 10-5 lead. Cascade increased their lead to 23-14, but a Ramos kill and a pair of Emily Meagher service aces closed the gap some, but in the end Cascade took game 3 25-20.

Cascade took an early lead in game 3, but two Tanner aces and a Ramos kill tied the game at 8. The teams traded points for most of the middle of the game, then an Oak Harbor service error, a pair of Cascade aces and a Wildcat hitting error gave the lead to the Bruins, who led by as much as 8 late in the game. Kills by Marisa Sutherland and Bouchard late in the game made the score more respectable, but the Bruins took game 4 25-18 and the match 3 games to 1.

The JV team had an off day, falling 17-25, 10-25 and 22-25. The Freshman team won just one of their 3 games in the aux gym.

The Wildcats' final match of the season is tonight, Wednesday, at home against Snohomish. It's senior night, so come and cheer on the 4 girls who have given 4 years to the Wildcat Volleyball program - Devin Tanner, Emily Meagher, Melany Cone and Marisa Sutherland.
