We were able to get to a trio of games Saturday afternoon, after a very rainy morning.
Down in Coupeville, the Minor AA Angels defeated their host, then right after that the Junior Softball Angels also went up against Coupeville, but the final score isn't available.
Later that afternoon, there was a single Major game played at the City Beach fields. The Angels (I'm beginning to sense a pattern here) vs the Dodgers, with the Angels picking up the win.

Youth Soccer 2014-04-26
With most of the league taking the morning off for the annual Holland Happening Parade, only the older kids were out on the fields Saturday morning.
And what brave kids they were, as for most of the early games it was pouring. In fact, the playing field was often the team's best defender, as kicked balls would run into some standing water and stop dead.
Our photographer braved the rain and was out on the fields getting photos of every Gu-10 team and half of the BU-10 teams (the other half was playing in South Whidbey.) The boys teams covered were the Red Vines, Blues Brothers and Emerald Arsenals.

In total points scored, the boys team lost to both GP and MP, while the girls split, besting Pilchuck and falling to Glacier Peak, but individually, the Wildcats did well.

In the varsity game, Oak Harbor controlled the game early, but could got get a shot past a scrappy Charger keeper, and in the 2nd half, MG was able to scoot a shot past the Wildcat keeper, then held the 'Cats off to preserve the 1-0 win and getting revenge for a 2-1 loss at Getchell early in the season.

Little League 2014-04-19
We got to a total of 3 games this past Saturday, including the wild first game between the Jr. Mariners and South Skagit.
The Mariners built a large lead early, but a big 4th inning by the Cardinals tightened the game and in the 7th inning the Mariners found themselves down by 3 runs. A hit, then a walk with bases loaded closed the score to just a single run, and a sharp rap by the Mariners batter was bobbled by the 2nd baseman and it looked like the batter would make it to first safely, scoring a run and tying the game.
The throw just beat the runner for the 3rd out and the Mariners fell by 1 run.
The other games were the AA Dodgers hosting the Giants from South Whidbey, and the A Bees vs Rattlers.
Mariners photos are posted HERE.

In the top of the 4th inning, Stanwood mounted a comeback to close the score to 5-6, but the Wildcat bats kept cracking and the JV squad won by a final score of 10-6.

Battling blustery winds and intermittent showers, baseball went on with 3 games taking place at the City Beach fields.

Boys Soccer 2014-04-15 vs Shorecrest
On a night were the Wildcats needed everything to go right, it seemed everything went wrong, as the 'Cats were shut out in both the varsity and JV games Tuesday night in Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
Not only were the 'Cat having an off night both offensively and defensively, it seemed that the visiting Scots could do no wrong, as every time a shot on the OH goal was blocked by the keeper, there was another Scot on the other end of the goal ready to boot it in.
On the plus side, there are plenty of great photos!
