FB 2014-11-07 Playoff vs Kennedy Catholic

Princeton Lollar strolls through a massive hole for the first touchdown of the game.
The last time Oak Harbor went to the state football playoffs, Princeton Lollar was nine.

All of that changed Friday night, however, as Lollar, now an OHHS sophomore, ran for 214 yards and three touchdowns to spark the Wildcats to a 34-14 romp over previously undefeated Kennedy Catholic in a 3A Quad-District playoff rumble.

The victory lifted Oak Harbor to 7-1 and sends it to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2007. The 'Cats will open the state playoffs Nov. 14 against the winner of Peninsula and Lakeside.

Kennedy entered the playoff game sporting shiny stats, having outscored opponents 45-5 on average this season.

Apparently, Lollar and running mate Dejon Devroe (137 yards) paid no attention to the hype, as they combined to shred the Lancer defense for 351 of Oak Harbor's 426 yards of total offense.

After Lollar opened the scoring with a four-yard burst to the promised land, Kennedy momentarily righted things with back-to-back touchdowns from Jr. Ngauamo.

But then, as in almost every game this season, the Wildcats flicked a switch and hit a new gear. This time, they did so to the tune of 27 unanswered points.

Lollar punched in a five-yard scoring run, 'Cat QB Clay Doughty hit Dyllan Harris on a 19-yard TD, Devroe rumbled in from the four and Lollar capped things off with a seven-yard scamper.

Kennedy repeatedly stalled out in its bid to get back in the game, committing four turnovers on its final five possessions of the game. Two came on interceptions by Harris.

Wildcat lineman Tyler Adamson ran down a breakaway Lancer runner from behind to save a touchdown and later recovered a fumble, while teammate Diangelo McKinney snatched up another bobbled Kennedy ball for a key turnover.
