Track 2015-03-19 - Island Jamboree


Oak Harbor's Wildcat Memorial Stadium was the site for the annual Island Jamboree track meet, featuring all three Whidbey high schools plus Lakewood.

The Wildcats got off to a good start, with the boys getting wins in 4 events and the girls winning 5.

For the boys is was Dejon Devroe clocking a 50.14 in his 400m dash.  In this first race of the season, he was just .01 off his best ever time.

John Rodeheffer won the 1600m run in 4:24, 3 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher.

Tyler Adamson threw the shot over 5 feet further than his nearest competitor, and with a toss of 45-3, added nearly a foot to his best ever throw

Chris Humphries was first in the triple jump, leaping 35-11.

On the girls' side it was sophomore Kaitlyn Chelberg running the 100m hurdles in 17.44, cutting more than a half-second of her best time.

Taylor Deconzo had a 6-foot victory in the javelin, throwing for a mark of 104-1.

Clair Anderson won both the high and triple jump, clearing 4-8 in the high and 32-02 in the triple.

Freshman Jenna Cooley win the long jump with a 15-7 mark, 4 inches further than 2nd place teammate Priya Osborne and almost a foot further than the best jumper from any other school.

Other notable marks were recorded by Senior Dallas Brodt in the javelin.  In his first ever competition he threw 131-04, just 4 inches less than the winning mark.

Sophomore Ben Bozeman also had a good day with the javelin, throwing 130-09 for 3rd place.

In the 400m dash, Oak Harbor swept the race, capturing the top 7 spots.  In order - Dejon Devroe, Jared Grey, Sebastian Ceaser, Mac Nuanez, Josiah Welch, Josh Cote and Michael Lym.

In the Pole Vault, Suzanne Kaltenbach equaled her best ever jump, clearing seven feet and earning 2nd place.  Mark Johnston, a senior but new to pole vault, cleared 8-0, along with freshman teammate Cullen Wood in a tie for 2nd place.
