Since there weren't enough girls to form separate teams, Oak Harbor is fielding only two girls AAU teams in the winter SWISH league in Mt. Vernon. One is a combined 5th and 6th grade team, the other a combined 7th and 8th grade team.
If anyone knows of any middle school girls who would like to play basketball, I'm sure either coach would be more than happy to add to the team's depth chart! The 5/6 grade team is especially short of players. Contact coach Gary Brundidge (sarjesgm@comcast.net) for more info.
The 5/6 grade team played two games early Saturday morning and scores aren't available.
The 7/8 team played just one game in the late afternoon against Coupeville, and it wasn't much of a contest. Oak Harbor jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and led 19-6 at the half. The 'Cats continued to build their lead, finishing on the top end of a 36-12 score. Individual stats aren't kept at this level.
41 images from the game are posted HERE.
