Youth football playoffs

Back on Halloween, all 7 OHYFL football teams were in playoff games. By the end of the night there were only two - The PeeWee Bobcats and the Midget Cougars.

Both teams were in action on Sunday the 8th at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

First up at 10am were the Bobcats, facing off against Burlington-Edison. Burlington scored first, but in the 2nd quarter the Bobcats responded with two TDs of their own. Burlington scored once more before the half to tie the game 14-14.

The Bobcats scored first in the 2nd half but missed the PAT. They scored again, and attempted a kick PAT (worth two points in youth football to encourage kicking). The kick was good and the Bobcats were ahead 28-14. The Tigers closed to within a TD as the 3rd quarter ended, the score 28-21.

The 4th quarter was wild, with a total of 5 touchdowns. Burlington was first, knotting the game at 28, then it was Bobcats 34-28, then 34-34, then Burlington went ahead 40-34 with just 14 seconds left in the game.

Oak Harbor was able to get the ball down to around the 40 yard line with 1.6 seconds left. The Bobcat runner dodged several tackles, the clock went to 0:00, and the runner crossed the goal line with the ball in his hands. 40-40 was the score now, and the PAT could win the game.

The Bobcats lined up and with a second effort got the ball across the line and into the end zone to win the game 41-40.

The very last game of the day was the Cougars with a scheduled start time of 4:45. When the dust settled, the Cougars were also advancing, winning 20-14.
