Middle School Boys Basketball 2013-2014 Season

As it normally happens, each year one of the two middle schools has a much better basketball team.  This year it was the OHMS 7th grade team, who just completed an undefeated season!

This year, JV teams saw their return to the hardcourt, with OHMS with enough players for both 7th and 8th grade JV teams, while NWMS could field only a combined JV squad.

Of course, even though there were 8 games played throughout the season, there's only one that really counts, and that's the annual OHMS/NWMS game, held this year on the Panthers' home court at OHMS.  The JV teams played over at NWMS.

The JV game was dominated by Oak Harbor middle, as the Panthers scored 36 points over 5 quarters while allowing the Cougars only 9.  For the Cougars, Servatius scored 4, Hartley 3 and Mansikko 2.  On the Panther's side, it was Mebane with 9, Ledgerwood 6, Hunter and Besaw 4 each, Matro 3, and Johnson, Hucko, Justin, Fisken and Cruz 2 each.

The 7th grade varsity game was also all Panthers, as they cruised to a 57-18 win.  Marchand had most of the Cougar scoring with 12, with Kesgard, Rowe and Anderson scoring 2 each.  Dylan R. was the lead Panther with 19 points. Dorian H. finished with 9, Haven B. 7, Kule W. and Andrew B. 6 each, Manik V. and Gavin A. 4 each, Terrel 3, with Austin B., Brandon M. and Evan scoring 2 each.

The 8th grade game was a nailbiter.  OHMS led 14-12 at the end of the first, and the game was tied at 25 at the half.  The 3rd period ended with the Panthers holding onto a 1-point lead, 33-32, but the Cougars exploded for 14 4th-quarter points to win the game 46-42.  Taeson H. led the Panthers with 17.  Justin Z., Nate C. and Michael L. scored 5 each, Jordan B., Noah H., and Joseph A. 3 each, and Gabe S. with a 1-point free throw.  For the Cougars it was Cullins with 18 to lead all scoreers. Jones finished with 10, Fletcher with 6, Hagney and Whitefoot 4 each, and Jackson and Johnson 2 apiece.

Below are direct links to various game photos taken throughout the year.  Unfortunately, none are of the NWMS JV squad.  Sorry.
