The Oak Harbor JV football squad traveled to Snohomish to take on the Panthers, hoping to build on the varsity's big win Friday night.
Oak Harbor got on the board first, scoring with 9:17 left in the the first, but Snohomish responded with a 98-yard interception return off a tipped pass to tie the score at 6-6 with 3:41 remaining. That would be the score when the first period ended.
Both teams scored in the second quarter as well - the Wildcats on a 19-yard run with 9:24 remaining, then the Panthers ran the kickoff back 75 yards to make it 12-12 with 9:11 left in the half. That score would stand until halftime.
The 3rd quarter also saw each team score once. The Wildcats with 7:51 remaining and Snohomish with 7:00 left. When the quarter ended the two teams were tied at 18.
The final quarter would prove the difference. Snohomish was able to push the ball across the goal line with just 51 seconds left in the game and while Oak Harbor made a valiant effort, the clock ran out before they could score, ending the game with the scoreboard reading 26-18 in favor of the Panthers.
