Varsity Football 2012-08-31 vs Snohomish

The Wildcats opened their 2012 season by hosting the Snohomish Panthers.  The first half didn't look too good, but the Wildcats got on track in the 2nd half.

Snohomish got the ball first and chewed up almost 7 minutes off the clock, but their drive ended with only a field goal.  Oak Harbor's first possession ended after 6 plays with a fumble and the first quarter ended with Snohomish on top 3-0.

The second quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with each team getting the ball three times, but no more points going up on the board.  At halftime it was still 3-0 for the Panthers.

Oak Harbor took the opening kick of the second half 50 yards in 8 plays, ending with a 3-yard pass from Ian Kolste to JoJo Webster.  The kick was good putting OH up 7-3 with 9?37 left in the 3rd.

Snohomish's first drive in the second half ended after 5 plays when a Wildcat sack forced the Panthers to punt.  Six plays later it was Kolste to Webster again.  The pass itself went only about 5 yards, but Webster ran another 70 yards to push the Wildcat lead to 14-3.

Again, the Wildcat defense stepped up, holding the Panthers to a 3-and-out.  The 3rd quarter ended with OH leading 14-3.

The Wildcats opened the final quarter with another touchdown, this one a 77-yard sprint by Isaiah Trower to make it 21-3 just 15 seconds into the 4th quarter.

Snohomish showed some life on their next possession, running 11 plays, but the drive ended with Webster intercepting a Panther pass at the OH 19 yard line.  Eight plays later Dakota Sinchak ran in from 24 yards out to make it 27-3.  Snohomish drove to the OH 33 yard line, but turned the ball over on downs with just 13 seconds on the clock.

Final - Oak Harbor 27, Snohomish 3.

Next up for the varsity team is a trip to Arlington next Friday to take on the Eagles.
