Boys Basketball 2010-02-09 @ Marysville

On Tuesday, Feb 9th, the OH boys traveled to Marysville and won one of the 3 games played.

The Freshman team played at Cedarcrest Middle School and had some problems in the first half. They spotted MP a 19-8 lead in the first quarter and scored only 4 more in the 2nd to trail 29-10 at halftime. OH owned the 3rd period, outscoring the Tommies 14-8 to cut the score to 37-26. Halfway through the final period the Wildcats had cut the lead to just 8 but it ended there as MP poured it on late to win 54-36. No individual scoring is available as OH did not keep a scorebook for the game.

In the main gym, the JV team working hard to overcome a poor first period. MP led 14-6 in the first and 29-20 at the half. The two teams played almost even in the 3rd which ended with MP leading 46-36. OH started to crawl back in the 4th but ran out of time as Marysville won 57-53. Corey Houck led the JV scoring with 13 points, Matt Burgoyne added 12 and David Tillotson 11. Kevawn Brooks got 9, Paul Johannsen 4 and Patrick Bell & Dayne Herron scored a pair each.

Oak Harbor won the first period of the varsity game 11-9 but lost the second 14-8 as MP led 23-19 at halftime. Coming out of the break, OH poured in 20 points while holding MP to just 11 to take a 39-34 lead. The OH offense continued to find the basket in the final quarter to win 54-45. Mike Washington, Jr. finished with 22 pints, Jay Stout 11, Rashaad Smith 8, Denzel Hardin 7, Trace Paul 4, and Ryan Fakkema & Stevie Bratt sank one free throw each.
