Boys Golf

The boys golf teams played a lot of gold this past week.

The JV golfers went first on April 19th against Marysville and Jackson HS. Greg Martin carded the low score for the Wildcats with a 59 over 12 holes. He was followed by Quinnton Wallace with 66, David Bunch 77, Jeremy Alonzo 83, Sean Kelley 86 and Keaton Dieter 95. As expected, the strong Jackson team won with a team score of 277. 4 of their golfers shot under 60 and their high scorer shot a 63.

Oak Harbor's team score was 371, just 5 strokes behind Marysville.

The next day the varsity team was at Cedarcrest Golf Course against Marysville and Cascade and played well. Judd Ford led Oak Harbor with a 78 over 18 holes and #5 Jim Nguyen had a great day, finishing 2nd for OH and 6th overall with an 81. Matt Fikse and Austin Fields each scored 84, Dan Klope was right behind with an 85 and Greg Martin an 86. OH finished with a total of 412, just 5 strokes behind MP and 26 strokes ahead of Cascade.

Thursday the varsity team had a home match at the Whidbey Golf & Country Club taking on Everett and Stanwood. Judd Ford had the low stroke count for the day, shooting a 71 over 18 holes, 11 strokes in front of the second place finisher! Matt Fikse shot an 85 to finish 6th overall and Austin Fields an 87 to finish 8th. Dan Klope and Jim Nguyen tied with 88 strokes and Greg Martin, moving up from JV to fill the 6th spot, shot a 101.

OH finished 1st in team scoring with 419 total. Stanwood shot 426 and Everett 459.
