The varsity girls tennis squad started the season on the right foot with a 4-3 win over visiting Arlington on Wednesday. At the same time, the JV team was in Arlington, and also won, but by a 5-2 score.
Varsity winners:
1 Singles McKenzie Perry 6-2, 6-2
4 Singles Faith Franssen 7-5, 6-2
2 Doubles Cat Amsler and Ellysa Bonganay 6-0, 2-6, 6-4
3 Doubles Hannah Gluth and AnnaBelle Whitefoot 6-4, 6-0
OH won both exhibition matches. Ria Bains and Jastine Sanchez won 6-2, 6-2 while Erina Horikawa and Patrice Woodworth won 8-2.
On the JV side:
1 Singles Hope Drager 6-4, 6-4
3 Singles Tamia Rios 6-1, 6-2
4 Singles Emma Lerch 6-2, 7-5
2 Doubles Aelizah Espirtu and Mary Shamatava 6-4, 4-6, 10-7
3 Doubles Emily Black and Shamel Leask 6-4, 6-1.
Oak Harbor won 1 of 4 exhibition matches. Lauren Aspery and Natalie Merrill won 8-1.
