Last week on Wednesday the boys varsity tennis team traveled to always-good Stanwood while the JV squad hosted the Spartans.
Both results were the same - 5-2 wins for Stanwood.
Varsity got wins from 1st and 2nd singles, with Jackson Wezeman winning 6-4, 6-3 and Rodrigo Columbo winning 6-3, 6-4. The 1st doubles team of Jared Hunt and Matthew Hallahan went the distance before falling 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
On the JV court, Trenton Cone won 6-0, 6-4 at 2nd singles and Clifford Hartley won 7-5, 6-4 at 3rd singles. All the other matches were won by Stanwood in straight sets.
The very next day, the varsity squad hosted Pilchuck, sweeping the visitors with a straight-set, 7-0 victory.
1st singles - Wezeman won 6-0, 6-0
2nd singles - Columbo won 6-3, 6-2
3rd singles - Raymond Paraiso won 6-2, 6-1
4th singles - Calib Byers win 6-4, 6-4
1st doubles - Hunt and Hallahan won 6-4, 6-0
2nd doubles - Sidney Thomas and Jose Cabigting won 7-6(3), 6-3
3rd doubles - Matt Molitor and Aziya Sanders won 6-3, 6-1
In an exhibition match, Noel Pangilinan and Cobin Phipps won 8-1.
While the varsity squad was whipping the Tomahawks, the JV squad was at Cavalero Mid-High (the Lake Stevens freshman campus), falling 6-1.
The lone Wildcat winner was Cone, who slugged it out before winning 6-7(5-7), 6-3, 10-8.
Tuesday the 29th the varsity team is at Everett, then host Getchell on October 1st, with JV at the opposite locations.
