Since I don't have a listing of all the names of the athletes correctly spelled, there may be one or two misspelled names. If you find one, please send an email to oakharborsportsreport@comcast.net so it can be corrected right away.

Oak Harbor Middle School and North Whidbey Middle School have a combined track team, known as “Wildcat United”, and the team held their first home meet Monday at Oak Harbor High School against Stanwood Middle School. Although the meet got off to a late start as there were not enough adult volunteers to help with all the events, things ran smoothly from then on.

The 8th grade boys team was very successful in the sprint races. In the 110m hurdles, Wildcat United went 1-2-3 with Sam Schultz in 1st, followed by Gilman and Herron. The boys also finished 1-2-3 in the 400, led be Devon Loftin with a blistering 54.99 time, Benz and Schultz close behind.

In addition to sweeping the 110 hurdles and 400m, Wildcat relay teams won both the 4x100 and 4x200m relays, Cheseboro won the 100m dash in a quick 11.99 seconds (Hills was 3rd) and Loftin was the winner of the 200m dash.

Other scoring finishes for the 8th grade boys were: Pedro Basaca (3rd in the 1600), Hermann (3rd in the 800), Herron (2nd in the shot put), Sutherland (3rd in the javelin), and in the high jump, Schultz was 2nd and Gilman 3rd.

While the boys did well in the track events, Stanwood dominated in the field events and showed some depth in running to win the meet 60-49.

The 8th grade girls won the 4x100 and 4x200 relays and were winners in 6 other events. The girls had 1-2-3 finishes in the 100m dash (Walker, Everett, Jansen), 1600m run (Wicker, Kenny), 400m run (Jansen, Wicker, Wiser) and high jump (Wicker, Wiser, Fransson).

In other events, Evangelista and Duhrkopf finished 2-3 in the 100m hurdles, Kenny was 3rd in the 800m run, Walker and Landingin were 1-3 in the 200m dash, Counts was 3rd in the shot put and Walker and Evangelista 1-3 in the Long Jump.

The final score for the 8th grade girls was 63-45 in favor of Wildcat United.

The 7th grade girls squeaked out a 56-52 win. Stanwood picked up the most wins, but WU used their depth to pick up points in the 2nd and 3rd place positions.

The girls did have a 1-2-3 finish in the 100m hurdles, with Atkinson, Wilson and Estrella finishing in that order. Other winners were Meyer in the 800 and 1600m run, Franssen in the high jump, and the 4x200m relay.
